In late 1993 General Electric introduced the Dash-9 44CW for the domestic and international locomotive market. The Dash-9 was the right locomotive at the right time for GE.Tremendous growth and change within the railway industry since the early 1990s created a need for new locomotives. The Dash-9 became the locomotive of choice for many major railways.
