Mallet 2-8-8-2 Steam Locomotive
In 1909, Baldwin introduced the Mallet 2-8-8-2, sending the first two to Southern Pacific, then three apiece to Union Pacific and the affiliated Oregon Railway & Navigation Co. By the 1950s, more than 1,000 Mallets had been built for service in America. The last to operate were N&W's Mallets, some of which remained in service right to the end of steam.
The Aristo-Craft 1:29 Scale Mallet is a wonderfully huge locomotive. It would look great on a big layout with generous curves. This model is sure to raise the bar and create a higher standard for all G Scale steam locomotives.
